The night started in good fun and ended just the same. Level Up Studios’ housewarming was an event that really encompassed what I love about music, variety and emotion.
Desmond Jones was first off with a fun and inviting performance. They were the perfect fit to get the party started.
Next came an emotionally vibrant acoustic performance from Tyler DeCoeur of The Cardboard Swords. Tyler’s way with words and lullaby-esqe voice always commands my attention.
The Change fed my soul with a rocking bluegrass vibe that had everyone in the room rockin. Definitely a crowd favorite. Then Lipstick Jodi ended the night for me on a cool and collective indie vibe, which if you know me, is one of my favorites. Short a drummer, the band kept the body groovin and the lips moving with covers of MGMT’s “Electric Feel” and Vance Joy’s “Riptide.” Definitely on my radar for local favorite.
Even Level Up’s Chief Executive Officer Randall Erno graced us with a few songs earlier on in the night, giving an encompassing feel of the passion that went into this project. The people behind Level Up are offering a unique service that let’s you take back your music with the help of talented professionals.
I enjoyed the feeling of connection throughout the night. The music stylings had a little something for everyone and kept spirits high. I had to leave before the night ended with a metal spectacular but the video can be recapped floating around the Facebook world along with many others. Overall the night was a celebration of love for music, art, and the future collaborations to come in Grand Rapids music scene.
