SkipFiction knows how hard it is to plan the perfect date, so we have come up with a list of local businesses that will help you celebrate the person you care about the most. Grand Rapids offers a wide variety of specialty shops, so you are bound to find the perfect gift for the perfect person.

The Local Epicurean

is an Eastown favorite for quality pastas and specialty sauces. If you want to celebrate your loved one with a home cooked meal, this specialty shop offers 155 different pastas that are infused with herbs, cheeses, or even chocolate. For the season, the Local Epicurean is selling heart-shaped cheese ravioli that pairs perfectly with a lobster butter sauce. If you’re nervous about your cooking skills, The Local Epicurean offers 27 different cooking classes, including a Valentine’s Day class for the entire month of February that includes a three-course meal. You can visit in-store and enjoy the Italian ambiance blocks away from home or find these products at more than 60 retailers across Michigan.

Posh Petals

Roses are red, violets are blue, but that doesn’t mean picking out the perfect bouquet is that simple. Posh Petals offers a unique floral experience because they emphasize personalized pieces, and help you out the entire way until you’re happy with your arrangement. For Valentine’s Day, there are seven arrangements available online, each with their own unique twist so you will be able to find the one that reflects your valentine. For the men who want to design their own bouquet, Posh Petals is offering a Men’s Happy Hour Event: BREWS, BBQ, & Blooms on Friday, February 10. With the help of beer, barbeque sauce, and the floral designers at Posh Petals, every man will be able to design the perfect arrangement for his sweetheart. Contact them for event details.

Mokaya Candies

What is Valentine’s Day without chocolate – or any day for that matter? The chocolatiers at Mokaya Candies create art out of cocoa. The wide variety of chocolates will appeal to any sweetie, from caramel enthusiasts to truffle fanatics. Even if your significant other is a craft beer lover, Mokaya has a flight of chocolate to suit their taste buds. Mokaya has joined forces with many local distillers and brewers to create their beer flights. This Valentine’s Day, Mokaya is hosting a Pop-up one stop shop on February 13 and February 14 for last minute romantics. Local musician/designer Adrian Butler, Overgrowth Floral, and potter Teresa Arpin will be joining Mokaya to provide the must-have Valentine’s Day gifts, such as clothing, flowers, vases, and of course, Valentine’s Day theme chocolates.

Metal Art Studio

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but so are gemstones and creative designs. This Valentine’s Day you could find a piece of jewelry as unique as your loved one at Metal Art Studio. They offer a distinctive line of fine jewelry by handpicking jewels and metals. While some jewelry is designed within the studio, other pieces come from around the world and were specially chosen by the owners of Metal Art Studio. Every piece holds a story, and the owners love to see how each person bonds with the story and design of the jewelry. In the words of Beyonce, if you like it, then you should put a ring on it.
